Client acquitted in Twitter stalking case at Chelmsford Crown Court

28.10.21

We acted for a medical executive who had been accused of stalking with intent her former partner through Twitter at Chelmsford Crown Court. Our client and the complainant, a prominent anti-brexiteer, were in a relationship which then broke down. It was alleged  by the complainant that following the break up our client had continually harassed him through Twitter and had made false allegations against him regarding his use of monies received through a crowd funding campaign. All allegations were denied by our client.

Following receipt of  voluminous and complex material from the prosecution and other disclosure, we submitted written representations to the CPS setting out in detail why the case should be discontinued. Following careful consideration of these the crown decided to offer no evidence against our client.

We are very pleased for our client who was a person of good character and stood to lose her reputation and her career in the event of conviction.

Senior partner Mark Bowen was instructed to act in this matter. For more details of the work we carry out on behalf of our professional clients please contact us for further details.
