Solicitor acquitted of sexual assault at Blackfriars Crown Court

19.03.12

Senior partner Mark Bowen was privately instructed to act for a senior city solicitor accused of sexual assault on a train, in a case at  Blackfriars Crown Court. Phillipa McAtasney QC was instructed to represent our client.

The case was discontinued by the CPS after failures in disclosure by the Crown together with new evidence uncovered by the defence.

This led to extensive representations being made to the CPS by us that there was no longer any evidence to support a prosecution.  As a result of these representations the CPS offered no evidence against our client who was formally acquitted.

The case also involved expert investigation and examination by the team of CCTV evidence presented by the CPS.
